    Ted-watched an episode of Chopped tonight and one of the food items wasTurbot.I was horrified to hear everybody pronouncing it “Turbo” I’m English and speak the language quite well,and NEVER heard the fish called a turbo.The Oxford English Dictionary gives the derivation of the word from Middle English/Old Swedish-”tornbut”It’s very unlikely the final t would have been silent.
    Check it out- the American pronounciation sounds awfully pretentious to me.
