How many U.S. Presidents were born and/or died on the 4th of July? How many time zones to the U.S. have in the early 1800’s? In 1983, which cost more? An ad for Superbowl commercial or an ad for the “M*A*S*H” series finale? All that and more with Adam’s Fun Facts:
1. Ad time for the series finale of “M*A*S*H” in 1983 cost more than ad time for the Super Bowl that year. (Jalopnik)

2. A spotted animal can have a striped tail, but a striped animal can never have a spotted tail. (Maths.org)

3. South Korea has compulsory military service.  Every male 18 to 35 has to serve for two years and there are VERY few ways to get out of it!  One of them is winning an Olympic medal. (Wikipedia)

4. The U.S. used to have more time zones than we do now.  In the early 1800s, cities could set their own time based on the sun and there were 144 separate time zones. We got down to four in the continental U.S. by 1883.  (History.com)

5. Three U.S. Presidents, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe, died on July 4th; Adams and Jefferson died within hours of each other in 1826 while Monroe died in 1831.  Our country’s 30th president, Calvin Coolidge, was born on Independence Day in 1872. (thepioneerwoman)
