Walt Disney World Plans Lighthouse Statue In Honor Of 2-Year-Old Lane Graves

By CJ

2016 was a rough year for Orlando for multiple reasons, and during the weekend of the Christina Grimmie murder and the Pulse Nightclub tragedy, 2-year-old Lane Graves was attacked and killed by an alligator at the Grand Floridian.

Since Disney has upped security measures around the lagoons and have beefed up signage warning guests to stay away from the water as it is a natural habitat.

To honor the boy, Disney will erect a lighthouse statue on property. A lighthouse was chosen because that is the icon of the Lane Thomas Foundation, a charity in Lane’s honor.

The foundation was started by the family as a way for their son’s legacy to live on. The purpose of the foundation is to be a “beacon of hope” for families that find themselves in a crisis of their own.

The exact location of the statue has not been announced.
