Adam’s Fun Facts: Hurricanes, PG-13 Criteria, “Gypsy” & More!

By: Adam Alexander
Where do we get the term, “gypsy” from?  What is the criteria for a “PG-13” movie verses an “R” movie?  What is the Coriolis Effect? You’ll learn that and more with Adam’s Fun Facts:

1. About $3,200 worth of change is thrown into the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy every single day.  That’s almost $1.2 million a year. (BBC)

2. The term “gypsy” was created because people thought they were from Egypt.   They weren’t, they were actually from northern India. (Wikipedia)

3. Hurricanes spin counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere because of a phenomenon called the Coriolis Effect. (National Geographic)

4. In PG-13 movies, the F-word can be used exactly one time. Like, in “Anchorman”, they saved it for Ron Burgundy saying, “Go [#*%*] yourself, San Diego.”  However, if a movie uses it a second time, it automatically gets an R rating. (Reelviews)

5. The following people have all killed someone in a car accident: Laura Bush, Matthew Broderick, Keith Moon, Rebecca Gayheart, Brandy, Vince Neil, and Howard Hughes. (Ranker)
