Katy Perry has been on a new music binge lately, giving us so many new tunes!
Today, she released a song called “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj and many are speculating that it is in fact, a diss track towards Taylor Swift.
One of the dead giveaways is in the song, Katy sings, “a tiger, don’t lose no sleep, don’t need opinions, from a shellfish or a sheep, don’t you come for me, no not today.”
She goes on singing, “you’re calculated, i got your number, cuz youre a joker, and im a courtside killer queen, and you will kiss the ring, you best believe.”
Let’s break this part down, shall we?
After news broke that Taylor wrote “Bad Blood” about a singer who tried to sabotage an entire arena tour by hiring dancers out from under her, fans went nuts specualting it was Katy, considering the dancers in question were featured heavily in Katy Perry’s “Part Of Me 3D.”
So, Katy sent out a cryptic tweet that many immediately pin pointed towards Taylor.
It was never confirmed or denied that this tweet was about Taylor but the shade kept being thrown after Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift broke up, and again when Kim Kardashian released those tapes supposedly of Taylor and Kanye talking about his line in “Famous.”
So, here we are on Katy’s new album and we all knew there would be a response to “Bad Blood.” What we didn’t know is that it would enlist Nicki Minaj who would rap her own verse on what Nicki fans are calling a diss towards fellow female rapper, Remi Ma.
In conclusion, everything is speculation because the only people who know what these songs are about and who imspired them are the songwriters, but it’s very clear that this could in fact be the Bad Blood response.
In my opinion, this is the perfect fuel for Taylor to write another response song which will undoubtedly feature her clever songwriting tricks to never name names but let the world know what it’s about.
