Last year, Universal Orlando Resort announced a Nintendo Land will be coming to Orlando sometime in the next few years.
Little is known about this new land except that it will house popular characters from the Nintendo franchises.
The obvious choice for a marquee attraction would be Mario Kart.
Mario, Luigi, and friends are arguably the most popular Nintendo characters and would be a great fit for a thrilling attraction.
However, figuring out what to do with the franchise is a different story.
Given Universal’s recent ride additions in the Harry Potter attractions, Transformers and the new Jimmy Fallon ride, the Mario Kart attraction would definitely not just be regular Go-Karts.
In comes a new patent filed by Universal which would allow ride vehicles to enter “tunnels” where extreme speed and obstacles could be simulated to give the feel of quick acceleration or climbing.
I would love a Mario Kart attraction and knowing Universal, this rumored ride would definitely be a hit with people of all ages.
