25-Year Old Man Swallowed Whole By Giant Python

***WARNING*** This story is pretty graphic, but apparently it’s 100% true because National Geographic has video footage. So, just a heads-up before you continue reading.

Hey it’s Jay from the Morning MIX and it’s no secret that I am terrified of snakes. I’ve spoken about my fear on-air multiple times and just thinking about snakes gives me chills. Even┬ámy oh-so-kind co-workers Dana and Adam know my fear and had a listener surprise me in the studio on-air with a python on “Face Your Fears Day.”

Well, I saw this story this morning and I had to share it with you. It’s the #1 trending story on Facebook right now and it’s all over the news, so I’m pretty certain it’s not a hoax. A 25-year old Indonesian man named Akbar Salubiro is a harvester and he recently went missing. Apparently a very swollen-looking python was spotted in the area and was caught. Apparently this type of snake typically grows to around 20′ long, however this sucker was 23′ in length!

Turns out that the snake did in fact swallow the man whole. Pythons will go for the blood stream and won’t eat their prey while it’s alive, unlike boa constrictors. According to National Geographic, reports of pythons eating humans, especially whole, are extremely rare.

This is the GRAPHIC part…

There is actual video footage of trappers cutting open the belly of the snake and inside you see the body of the missing man. You’ve been warned, so proceed at your own risk. You can see the video here from the National Geographic website.
