It’s that time of year again, we’re all preparing ourselves for more tourists and more drunk college kids roaming the beaches. However, Volusia County has decided we need to do more for our environment.
It’s a known fact that alcoholic beverages aren’t allowed on the beach, in any kind of container. And a lot of people are guilty of leaving containers and plastic trash carelessly on our beaches. Harming the animals and getting washed up into the sea. So because Volusia County officials are trying to make a win win situation for everyone (or that’s how I see it) they’re offering to give Spring Breakers a choice.
- You can either get arrested for drinking on the beach, having an open container, littering and or drinking underage.
2. You can get out of the violation, by filling up a trash bag from trash that’s been thrown on the beach.
Not a bad trade if you ask me. As a local, I hate seeing our beautiful beaches polluted. We’re known world wide as a tourist destination for a reason. Let’s keep them beautiful for everyone, including our wildlife.
So far there’s been 56 arrests.
Now let’s see if all our Florida beaches can do the same.
