MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Outer bands from a monster Hurricane Matthew are approaching Florida’s coastline.
At 8 a.m. the center of the Category 3 hurricane was about 215 miles southeast of West Palm Beach.
The system’s maximum sustained winds were 125 mph as it moved to the northwest at 12 mph. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles.
