Hurricane Matthew is churning its way north through the Caribbean after making landfall in Haiti this morning.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of 140 mph with higher gusts. Movement is to the north at 9 mph.
The projected path takes the storm over The Bahamas as a category 3 or 4 hurricane then making a close pass or landfall near east central Florida sometime Thursday as a category 3 or 4 hurricane.
As of the 5pm advisory, the projected path has shifted further west, putting the center of Matthew closer to Orlando.
