[Watch] WWII Veteran Gets Honored At His LA Home

Veteran’s Day is just a couple months away, and it amazes me how many veteran’s are forgotten about on a daily basis.

Ernest Thompson served on the USS Missouri back in WWII. His grandson, Jonathon Williams, the CEO of Battleship Iowa Museum mentioned that his grandfather enjoyed visiting the USS Iowa, which was the sister ship of the USS Missouri. He did it quite often, until this past year. Now in his 90’s, he’s encountered some health problems that have prevented him from walking or standing, and had to stop the visitations.

Hearing about this problem, the chief selects of the Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center decided to visit Thompson and give him an amazing gift. They stood in the middle of the street, in front of his home, and sang the Navy’s march song, ‘Anchors Away’. Thompson stood, and saluted the entire time.

Seriously so touching. Each chief select walked up and shook his hand afterwards. His grandson later took to Facebook and said, “My grandfather told me it was one of the best days of his life”.
