Britney Spears Would Totally Do the Super Bowl Halftime Show

By Amanda Wicks

After Adele shared that she’d turned down the slot to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime Show (which the NFL and Pepsi later said they’d never offered her), music fans the world over started offering their opinion about who should be next year’s big name.

In a new interview on BBC Radio this morning (August 24), Spears said she would definitely be interested. “Yes, I would probably do that,” she said, adding that she’d need a bit of help to pull it off. “Definitely not on my own,” she explained. “I would have to have a little support there. Another artist, of course. I don’t think you would ever do the Super Bowl alone, that would be kind of scary. I don’t think I would be able to do it.”

But even though she doesn’t want to do it alone, she admits how hard it is to get people to actually commit to something. Spears discussed how other artists had flaked on her in the past, citing their diva behavior as the reason. “People are busy,” she said. “We all have lives. It’s kind of hard. You wouldn’t believe it, but a lot of the people in the entertainment business, if you try to work with them or set up projects, a lot of times people don’t show up. A lot of people are divas in the industry. Oh my goodness! I could tell you thousands of stories, but I’m not really allowed to give out that information and what they did, so you know how that goes. It’s better to go it alone, my friend.”

Spears performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2001 with Aerosmith and N’Sync, but she has not yet been the featured performer. Could 2017 be her year?
