Simone Manuel Makes U.S. Olympic History In Individual Swimming Event

The Olympics are always fascinating to watch, especially when your country takes home the gold medal.

However, last night in Rio, Simone Manuel not only took home gold, but she made U.S. history in becoming the first African American woman to medal in an Olympic individual swimming event.

Visibly in shock, Simone discussed what it meant to her to not only win, but make such a monumental moment in history come to fruition.

We live in a great world and sometimes we just have to open our eyes and see that.

Watching Simone give the post swim interview was inspiring, but watching her on the podium as she was receiving her medal is what the Olympics are all about.
