Adam’s Fun Facts: Samsung, Summer Olympics, Cher & More

What famous song was Cher a backup singer on?  What was the company Samsung’s first product?  When is it the same time in Oregon and Florida?  All that and more with Adam’s Fun Facts:

1. Teddy Roosevelt was 42 years old when he took over as president after William McKinley was assassinated which makes him the youngest president ever.  JFK was 43 when he was elected. (U.S. News and World Report)

2. When Samsung started in 1938, it was a noodle company. It didn’t get into electronics until the late 1960s. (Wikipedia)

3. For one hour a year, it’s the same time in Oregon and Florida.  Parts of eastern Oregon are on Mountain time and parts of the Florida panhandle are on Central.  So when western Florida sets the clocks back from 2:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. in the fall, it’s also 1:00 A.M. in eastern Oregon. (Blaine’s Puzzle Blog)

4. Even though the Soviet Union hasn’t competed in the Summer Olympics in over 20 years, it’s still second in the all-time medal count. America has 2,399 medals, the Soviet Union has 1,010 and Great Britain is third with 780. (Wikipedia)

5. Cher was one of the background singers for The Righteous Brothers on “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”. (Wikipedia)
