Thank you Central Florida.
Because of you, this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk had an attendance of about 2,600 and raised over $450,000 and counting.
“We have raised $450,000 and counting — the most ever in Central Florida,” said Kelley Lesperance, executive director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Northern and Central Florida. “Last year this event raised $365,000.”
Our beloved Scott McKenzie was our alarms every morning for 25 years and unfortunately lost his battle with cancer this year.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma society honored Scott’s wife Fran with a special award that recognized his contributions over the years. Since 1997, Scott hosted the walk every year.
We were honored to partner with our fellow Orlando radio groups Cox Media Group Orlando and iHeartMedia Orlando.
Because of fundraisers like this that search for cures for cancer, survival rates are on the increase.
Scott would be so proud.
