Congratulations to Apopka for being ranked #14 on the Forbes list of the 15 Friendliest Towns in America!
Forbes teamed up with NextDoor.com to evaluate 500 small towns across the U.S. with populations between 5,500 and 150,000. The towns were then ranked according to these 4 criteria: Percentage of owner-occupied homes, the crime rate, charitable giving, and the percentage of college graduates.
After taking all of the information from the 500 towns, Forbes and NextDoor.com ranked the towns from 1-15 and Apopka came in at #14!
Here’s what Forbes had to say about Apopka:
“The population of this Orlando-area town has more than doubled over the past decade, even as Florida’s economy has suffered through the downturn. Despite a relatively high crime rate, more than 80% of Apopka residents still own their homes and the number of college graduates outranks the state’s average. One of the town’s biggest events is the three-day Old Outdoor Florida Festival in February and features outdoor activities like hunting, a farmers’ market, and a backyard chili cook-off. In general, neighbors on Nextdoor have been known to organize charity golf tournaments, boy scout fundraisers, Super Bowl parties and karaoke events.”
