#1.) She’s an award-winning poet
In 4th grade, Taylor’s poem “Monster In My Closet” placed first in a national poetry contest.
#2.) Taylor’s dad owns 3% of her record label- He was an early investor in Big Machine Records.
#3.) Taylor’s brother Austin is a student at Vanderbilt University- He transferred from Notre Dame.
#4.) The Dixie Chicks were a major influence- Taylor says LeAnn Rimes, Shania Twain and Faith Hill were all big influences in her music career, but this is the first I’ve heard of the Dixie Chicks!
#5.) She wrote a novel when she was 12- If the music thing doesn’t work out, Taylor has a 350 page novel ready to go. She said she’d also like to write her own biography down the road.
#6.) Taylor’s grandmother was an opera singer- Taylor’s grandma on her Mom’s side, Marjorie Finlay, was an accomplished opera singer and Taylor looks a lot like her. You can see the comparison here.
#7.) Taylor’s first job involved bugs- She knocked praying mantis pods out of trees on her family’s Christmas tree farm. Now she’s a millionaire!
