President Barack Obama, who is currently campaigning in Florida, was scheduled to make an appearance at Rollins College in Winter Park this afternoon. FOX 35 is reporting that the appearance has now been cancelled in light of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado.
The Rollins College appearance was to be the final stop on President Obama’s two-day campaign trip through Florida.
Speaking at what was scheduled originally as a campaign event at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers, Florida, President Obama told a somber audience, “Such violence, such evil, is senseless. But while we will never know fully what causes somebody to take the life of another, we do know what makes life worth living.”
President Obama went on to say the shootings serve as a reminder that “our time here is limited and it is precious, ” adding that today should be devoted to prayer and reflection.
