It doesn’t take much to ignite the Taylor Swift fanbase. So when the multiplatinum-selling, Grammy-winning star posted today on her Facebook page that “a lot of things” will be “happening very soon,” it was like a spark hitting dry trees in a drought.

“I’m writing you from Nashville, where I just sat in a big room with a lot of people and made a lot of decisions about a lot of things happening very soon. And as vague as that sentence was, I think you know what it means,” she wrote. “Stuff is about to happen. I love you more than ever.”

Which, of course, led to fan posts like this one.

Speculation has been flying for a while now about the songs, the mood, and even the potential guests who’ll grace Swift’s followup to her 2010 powerhouse Speak Now. She’s hinted at the material in interviews, including one with Vogue earlier this year, where a conversation about relationships shifted to how that might be reflected in her new material.

“There’s just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak,” she explained, “and that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way that I can feel better about myself—pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone—is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity.”

In an interview with the New Yorker from last fall, she was, even back then, already talking about her new material. “Asked to characterize [the new songs], she said, ‘They’re sad? If I’m being honest.’ The most recent one, she said, ‘is about moving on.’”

Are you curious to know what sort of “stuff” went on in that “big room” in Nashville? Likely as not, the details could begin emerging sooner than you think.
