From Scott McKenzie & The Morning MIX

Do you dread crawling out of bed every morning knowing you have to face the gridlocked I-4 or 408?  If so, don’t worry, you’re not alone!  But it gets worse, according to a recent study from Brown University, there are 3 reasons your commute to work is seriously ruining your life.

Brown University studied 25,000 people and on average, people with a 60-minute commute (meaning 30 minutes each way) got about 30% less sleep than they would have otherwise.  So, if you usually get six hours a night, you could be getting about eight.

Here are three more ways your commute might be ruining your life from Men’s Health:

#1.) You Exercise 16% Less

On average, people who had long commutes, around 90 minutes each way, only set aside 14 minutes for exercise each day.

#2.) You Have About 6% Less Time to Eat

Not to mention about 4% less time to make your breakfast and dinner, which means you’re more likely to order out or make something unhealthy.

#3.) The Little Free Time You Do Have You Waste Watching TV

The one thing people in the study didn’t miss out on was TV time.  Even the ones who commuted three hours a day still made time for about an hour-and-a-half of TV time.

But there is good news, so don’t panic just yet!  Research has proven that laughter and great music can make you a happier person and reduce stress.  So, during your commute, make sure you listen to MIX105.1!
