By now you may have seen the photo to the left of Harry Styles of One Direction with his hand placed firmly on the crotch of bandmate Liam Payne. And this isn’t an isolated incident. There are plenty of photos out there of the guys both crotch grabbing and bum slapping. But what’s it all about?
When we spoke to Niall Horan and Zayn Malik before their recent Orlando appearance, we decided to get to “the bottom” of this.
Presenting them with photographic evidence, we asked simply, “What’s going on in this picture? Is this a thing you guys do?”
Referring to the picture of Styles covering Payne’s crotch with his hand, Malik said, “That’s a bit extreme that one is.”
Horan chimed in that the photo must have been taken while they were touring Australia because he now has a different hairstyle. Inspecting the photo even further, Malik then points to Styles in the photo with Horan excitedly announcing, “Harry’s got some next level crotch. He’s got some crotch bulge going on there.”
When looking at another photo with one of the guys cupping Horan’s buttocks, Horan asked Malik, “That one is just to make the girls scream isn’t it?”
Malik agreed stating, “We do it when we’re taking photos. We make each other laugh, grabbing each other’s bums.”
