Rita Ora has got a hit song with “How We Do (Party)” and the seal of approval from Jay-Z. She’s also got very firm opinions on red lipstick.

Ora has a distinct style with her blonde locks, caramel skin, and penchant for bright red lipstick. She has often sited Gwen Stefani as a style icon and her influence clearly shows from Ora’s dark brows to her pin-up lips. She sat down with CBS Local to talk make-up, designers, and which products she has total loyalty to.

“It depends on what my mood is. Red orange-y is when I’m feeling energetic and fiery and red/dark red is when I’m feeling sexy. It’s usually: daytime red orange-y and nighttime Ruby Woo, which is a Mac brand. It depends on what I feel like, but always in the red spectrum.”

Mac’s Ruby Woo is a shade that is considered by beauty editors to be the classic, universally flattering shade of red.

“Total loyalty to Lady Danger, Mac. Total loyalty to Ruby Woo, Mac. But I’ve started to see that Nars and Tom Ford have really good reds.”

Lady Danger, in contrast, is in the coral-to-red family and, as Ora notes, markedly more appropriate for daytime lipstick. It is also a matte, a signature part of Ora’s look. You’re unlikely to catch her with glossy lips, even when she’s not wearing any red color.

Ora further says, “I never leave the house without concealer and Bobby Brown sheer bronzer which has got a shimmer to it. It makes you look like you’ve been in the sun.”

Ora also revealed which fashion houses she’s feeling.

“I’m definitely liking John Paul Gaultier. I think I’ve always liked them but I’m definitely liking that. And there’s a new English designer named Ashley Williams who just graduated. She’s incredible and she has so much energy. Her clothes are full of life. I wore it recently at a show I did in London and I just felt great. It’s got prints, it’s cool, I just think it’s so awesome.”
