It was just announced today that two of the hottest current pop groups, Maroon 5 and Foster The People, will be taking the stage with pop icons [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Beach Boys[/lastfm] this Sunday night at the GRAMMY Awards.

No word as to how they will be integrated, but expect something similar to last year when [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mumford and Sons[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Avett Brothers[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bob Dylan[/lastfm] all joined forces.

The appearance by the Beach Boys kicks off their highly anticipated 50th anniversary reunion. The band will officially start their anniversary tour April 27 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Other performers announced today include GRAMMY nominees [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]The Civil Wars[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Diana Krall[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maceo Parker[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Joe Walsh[/lastfm].

This news actually seems to be quite exciting. I am actually a huge fan of Foster the People as well as Maroon 5. Adam Levine is a very unique and talented vocalist, which I feel will really mesh well with Foster’s style of music. Foster the people has a very different styled sound, almost like the band known as MGMT, using guitar, synthesizers, keyboards and whatever other crazy stuff they like to include. However, I am kind of unsure of how they will come together with the Beach Boys. This makes the Grammy’s even more exciting to watch!
