Did you know that some of the biggest department stores in America are hanging their dressing room doors backwards in an effort to reduce theft? Sounds like a great idea and makes sense, right? Well, it would, if it didn’t mean they were able to see you naked! Yes, that’s right, they can see you, but you can’t see them! So the next time you try on that bikini or bra, you may want to know who’s doing this…
WTSP News in Tampa is reporting that stores like Macy’s are hanging their dressing room doors upside down so they can see in and you can’t see out. You know the wood slats on the doors? Well, if they face up, they can see you, but you can’t see them! That means when you’re trying on that new bikini or bra, not only can the employees see you, but everyone else in the dressing room can too!
Apparently Macy’s, Dillard’s, Ann Taylor Loft, and Saks Fifth Avenue have already installed the reverse slats in several of their stores. In a statement, Macy’s said they’ve done it because, “Retailers work hard to strike a balance between preserving the privacy of customers, providing customer service, maintaining customer safety in fitting rooms, and deterring theft.”
